Below are some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the AT-3. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to use our information request form, or see our contact page for telephone and email information.

What are the advantages of the AT-3?
Here are just some of the features that make the AT-3 the best aircraft in its class:

  • All-metal construction using corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum
  • Very low operation costs
  • Fuel consumption of 16 litres/hr
  • Modern 100 HP Rotax 912S engine
  • Excellent flight characteristics
  • Very robust construction makes the AT-3 ideally suited for the rigors of flight training and unprepared runways
  • Useful load of 232 kg (511 lbs)(
  • Range of over 400 nautical miles (800 km)
  • Cruising speed of up to 112 kts (208 km/h)
  • Excellent al-round visibility

How long from order to delivery?
While actual delivery time depends on many factors, with current backlog you can expect to receive your airplane within 5 months of finalizing your order.

Is it certified?
Yes, the Aero AT-3 received Type Certification from the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) in February 2003. It is certified as a Very Light Aircraft (VLA) under the Joint Aviation Requirements (JAR). Additionally, the AT-3 completed the type certification process with the UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in October, 2004. And in January, 2005 the AT-3 received type certification in the VLA category from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), making it the first purpose-built ab initio training aircraft to receive EASA certification.

What are the operating costs?
The cost of operating the AT-3 is extremely low due to its low fuel consumption rate (approx 16 ltr/hr). The costs are further reduced because the AT-3 can burn less expensive automotive gas. Fuel and oil costs of less than €30 (£20) per hour are possible, depending on fuel type used and regional fuel prices. Additonal cost savings can be achieved because there is no TBO on the airframe and propeller. Also the routine 50 and 100 hour checks are straightforward and relatively inexpensive.

What are the range and payload?
The AT-3 has a range of 795 km (429 nm) and a useful load of 232 kg (511 lb). Because of its large load capacity, the AT-3 can carry two 200 lbs adults and a full tank of gas.

What fuel can I use?
Both unleaded mogas 95 octane (Super Unleaded) and Avgas 100LL

Is there a kit version for the home builder?
Due to high demand for the certified, factory built AT-3, the kit version is currently unavailable.

Can I take it for a test flight?
